4 Products you NEED to try for ultra-thick lashes!

My local dairy owner has the most beautiful lashes ever. They’re long, they’re dark, they’re thick. When he looked down at the counter the other day I was consumed with jealousy. They’re the kind of lashes I’ve spent a great deal of money on trying to create through the power of mascara. Yep, when the great ‘whoever’ was giving out lashes I was clearly too busy in the ability to eat KFC without regret line.

It would appear though, that fattening up ones lashes is getting easier, and perhaps a little more time consuming, as a raft of lash primers and powders have begun to make their way onto the market.

So what’s what and what can it do?

A new addition to Benefit’s They’re Real line is the They’re Real Tinted Primer. Worn alone this tinted primer promises to create a ‘feathery, natural look’. Wear it under their They’re Real mascara and apparently there’s a dramatic boost to the length of your lashes, as well as fabulous separation. Another bonus is the addition of provitamin B5 to condition your lashes.

If applying your mascara proves to be a little tricky, then Magnifibres Treatment Primer could whip that problem away with a whirl of a wand. According to their listing on Sephora.nz their clear conditioning formula makes mascara easier to apply, while also making your lashes look longer and thicker. Not only that but 85% of women who used it saw a lengthening in their lashes in eight weeks.

If you’re budget conscious, Designer Brands’ Lash Primer is well worth a look. Not only is it certified cruelty free and vegan, it also claims to build and nourish lashes so they’re thicker, fuller and longer-lasting, all while repairing and renewing lashes thanks to the high-tech formula, which is infused with Green Tea and Coenzyme Q10.

Lastly, a lash product that’s unlike anything we’ve seen before! Essence Volumizing Lash Powder contains synthetic mini-fibres, which help create a false-lash look. And unlike other products where you apply the formula first, with this you apply your mascara, then while it’s still wet you apply the powder on top of the mascara, then seal it with another coat of mascara. A quick squizz of the interwebs sees beauty gurus giving it a go and giving it the thumbs up on the whole. Looks like I’ll be making a trip to Farmers and hoping it’s on the stand!

So, do tell, have you tried lash primers or powders? What are your thoughts? Have you seen a difference? Or not enough of a difference to make the extra step worth it? What are your favourites? Chat away…

As a teen I had the loreal lash expansion mascara with the primer and the black on top liked it! I am always keen to try different mascaras.

I am currently using FLash serum and it is amazing. So many people comment on my lashes now and some even ask if they are fake! It took about 3-4 weeks but it really worked!

I can't say that I have ever considered a Lash primer... very interested to know if it's worth the extra step (and cost)

I've had a friend that tried the flash from farmers and she loves it, I haven't got round to it yet as I've found mascara seems to do the trick for me but in saying that I like the sound of the magnifiers primer!

Ive been blessed with thick but straight lashes so I havent really looked for products to help but I did have a tube of Ro-Vies Eye can-d mascara and they made my lashes a lot more thicker and almost falsie like, it was one you apply mascara and then a fibre brush on top.

Oooohh like the sound of the Essence Volumizing Powder! - Might have to check it out :)

9th August, 2016

I've never tried lash primer or powder, but you put up a convincing argument for trying them!

Never tried a lash primer before. I am interested in Lilash for growth. Didn't know essence had one. Might have to check that one out.

9th August, 2016

I've tried lash primers and never been that impressed. I'm intrigued by the Essence lash powder though!

9th August, 2016

This is what I need -my lashes are really not a great feature and need some help.

9th August, 2016

Ooohhh I haven't tried a lash thickening product before but that Essence Volumizing Lash Powder looks amaze. I know what I am buying tomorrow lol

9th August, 2016

I've tried both and I'm happy to stick to good old mascara or Lilash (if it didn't cost my soul). I don't notice much of a difference with primers but the fibres definitely thicken/lengthen my lashes but it's really easy to get spidery and clumpy lashes.

I've never used a lash primer before. I wonder if this is the magic ingredient that can make your lashes look vavoom with any mascara. I would wonder if the last one would mean you end up with a transfer of the powder on your mascara wand that just ends up changing the texture of your mascara with continued use of this product.

I have a couple of powders, they work well but nothing beats the real thing. Growth serum it is for me.

8th August, 2016

I've been looking at the lash serum at Farmers and the Designer Brands one too. I like the look of the Essense one as well, but haven't seen that on their stand yet.

It's just the FLash one from farmers- it's the cheapest one I can find that works.
