Foot filing - do you do it wet or dry?

We all have those 'cringe' beauty habits that are incredibly satisfying.  From popping a pimple to biting a nail.  How about filing your feet?  There's something to be said about the almost instantaneous shift from hard, rough heels to smooth, sandal-ready feet, albeit in a cloud of skin-dust.  Actually, forget albeit - the bigger the skin-dust cloud the more satisfying it is.

When it comes to our beauty routines we all have slightly different habits - different methods and techniques work better for some than others.  Foot filing is no different.  Some of us swear by metal files, others by glass.  Some of us will only file thoroughly soaked feet, others like to do it on completely dry feet.  So is there a right way?

Well no.  Some people believe that by filing on wet feet you run the risk of removing too much skin, and by filing dry feet you might cause cracking or pain.  It really seems to be a case of experimentation - different files will work on different feet in different ways.  The more grater-like the file you're probably going to want to use on wet feet.

I love filing my feet dry, I want the evidence of skin removal.  Filing them wet just feels like a chore.  A boring chore.  Once again.  I have issues.

Enough about me - how about you?  How do you file your feet?  What do you use?  And more importantly do you do it wet or dry?

Definitely have to do it wet and with a pumice stone.

Wet - with a pumice stone in the shower for me, only because it's convenient!

I always do them dry as it gives an indication of how much skin am filing off. Never tried doing them wet, i'm guessing both have the same results?

I actually don't do it! But I have been given one of the Scholl Velvet Smooth Diamond Crystal dohickeys so I'll have to give it a go and put up a review! :)

I have always done my own when they are dry however If I am caring for someone else's feet then I always file after I have soaked their feet lol

I have got lots of pumice stone which I need to use more often.

I go wet and use a pumice stone in the shower. Although I probably rub too lightly as I find it doesn't remove a lot in one go.

I use a pumice stone in the shower. It does the job okay but I still have the worst cracked heels. Never has this problem until I moved from Auckland to Christchurch.

I used to use pumice in the shower but I actually prefer dry filing/buffing as I can sit easier and do it anytime... plus we are conserving water and doing it in the shower takes a few minutes. My foot spa needs to come out again and I'd do it wet then. So I guess a bit of both wet and dry lol

My feet get no attention what so ever lol they are rather neglected.

26th September, 2016

I dry file because it's satisfying to have a wee pile of skin powder sounds icky but it works for me to keep the cracks at bay :)

26th September, 2016

I dont file my feet maybe i should?? I do have dry skin on my feet so this may be beneficial for me for sure

26th September, 2016

Dry hurts me so I do it wet, I love seeing how much skin comes off, its so satisfying!
