Five Fab Reasons To Love Sheet Masks

(First rule of sheet masking - never crack a smile, no matter how much you might want to.)

By BR Kellie

I'll never forget the first time I tried a sheet mask. It was an experience unlike any other beauty experience I'd tried before. There was the removing of the serum-soaked tissue. The figuring out how to unwrap it. The shifting and smoothing as I arranged it on my face. Then there was the obligatory Instagram selfie - and that moment when you want to crack up laughing, but can't because it could move the mask and potentially ruin all the good work the serum was doing to your skin. Since that first time I've become mad for sheet masks, and use one every week. Sometimes twice a week if I wake up and go 'oh no, nobody needs to see this face'. In those cases I immediately mask up and twenty minutes later I'm faced with skin that I deem outside world-worthy.

So what makes sheet masks so sensational? Read on...

It's enforced relaxation time. I'm not great at not doing anything. I have the attention span of a gnat. I hop from place to place. This isn't easy to do when you've got a sheet mask on. The risk of it flapping off is real. So once a week I am forced to lie back and relax while the mask works its magic. And by relax I mean I sit back and watch Wayne Goss YouTube videos, and I come away more knowledgable and with lovelier skin. Win/win.

Your skin looks instantly improved. I think of my daily skincare regime as the softly softly approach to good skin. It's not obviously doing anything, but it works little by little to keep the fine lines at bay, to ensure my pigmentation doesn't get worse. But some days you need a little more help. And a serum-soaked mask is the perfect fix. Pop it on, lie back and once peeled off your skin looks visibly brighter, plumper, and more beautiful.

It's a spa experience without the expensive price tag. There's nothing like a pamper session at a spa. All that massaging, all those preparations being applied to your skin. It's rather divine. Also, it's never cheap. Whereas paying a few dollars for a sheet mask that leaves you with skin that glows every bit as much as a post-spa session is affordable, enjoyable, and won't leave you wondering if you can survive the week on two minute noodles.

There's a mask to suit all skin types. Sensitive skin? There'll be something there for you - like the Garnier Hydra Bomb chamomile mask. Oily skin? There are mattifying masks. Dry as the Sahara desert skin? You bet your bottom dollar a sheet mask will see your skin saturated in moisture.

They never fail to amuse. It doesn't matter how many times I put one on, wearing a sheet mask always tickles my funny bone. It's also most amusing to put one on while you have company. The look on my husband's and my daughter's face the first time they saw me wearing one was priceless. My best friend's eyes fair bulged out of her head. They're comedy (or horror... depending on your perspective) gold!

So there you have it - five fab reasons to get your sheet mask on!

So do tell, are you a fan of the sheet mask? What is it you love about them? Have you yet to try one? Are you tempted to? Chat away!

Yes I'm big on sheet masks in fact it was one thing I went cray-cray buying around last year and to some extent this year. I think I love the plump feeling, like it really makes the fine lines less obvious and really calms and temporarily brightens your skin, if you really need good hydration it is the best type of mask to use. I think I use them 2 to 3 times a week on nights that I'm not doing a peel or using a clay mask. I did go a bit cray-cray with masks this year and now I'm panning stuff off, but sheet masks will always be on my list of things to purchase.

I feel like sheet masks aren't as effective as normal formula masks that you apply. Although application is faster with a sheet mask.

I loved the sheet mask that I trialed. It made my skin so soft and hydrated I was so impressed. I purchased 3 today with my groceries. Looking forward to using one on a hot day as I find them so refreshing

I love a good sheet mask!

29th October, 2017

Yes I love sheet masks! There's nothing more satisfying than hauling a huge load of different sheet masks at once. And unlike masks that come in a jar/tube, you can go change it up every time to have a different one.

I don't mind them at all even though we do all look a bit strange and them haha my experiences have always been good ones and my skin always feels extremely hydrated after using one. And I agree head pixie that it kind of forces us to have to relax for a small amount of time ;-)

I do love me a sheet mask. I love how hydrated my face feels the next day. My top tip is to use a coffee mask ( Lush's Cup of Coffee is my fave) the next day, and then once rinsed off, hoooooo boy. Even softer skin, if that's possible.
