Feet - love 'em or loathe 'em?

Has there every been such a divisive body part as feet?  Whenever a foot theme product is mentioned at BRHQ, the crew are split in two - the ooos and the ewws .

Whilst the ooos are swept away with visions of foot massages, balms and nail polish, the ewws just can't get over the body part - feet.  And they're not alone - there's even a Facebook group "I hate feet".  But what have feet done to earn the loathing of so many?  As a confessed foot hater I'm not going to be speaking logically for the next paragraph ok?

Feet at their worst are, well, eww.  Hard skin.  Smelly.  Yellow nails.  Corns.  Bunions.  Cracked heels.  Verrucas.  And even 'nice' feet have the worst thing about feet.  Toes.  TOES.  What the heck is wrong with toes?  Wriggly, uncoordinated toes.  My hate for feet isn't biased, I hate mine equally, probably more than anyone elses.  Mine are about as wide as they are long, I have the beginnings of a sixth toe (ok they're Tailors Bunions), I have 4 nails on each foot (my brother cut my little toe nails off giving me the pedicure from hell when I was 10.  They never grew back).  My feet are the epitome of all that is wrong with feet.

Now writing this I realise I have issues.  And also, I've written a very biased piece thus far.  So let me do a quick Google and hit you with what's good about feet.

Feet are amazing - Did you know the average person walks 3 miles a day?  That 25% of the body's bones are found in the feet?  That the average foot is 2 sizes longer when standing up? Here's another foot fact - women are four times more likely to have foot problems than men - when you pair that with the fact that 8 out of 10 women wear shoes that are too small for them, it's not surprising.  Which brings us on to the best thing about feet.

Without feet we wouldn't have shoes*...and where would a woman be without her shoes?!

So - when it comes to feet, are you team ooo, or team ewww?

*Yes this is a confusing benefit to having feet.  After all the best thing about shoes is that they cover feet.  And if we didn't have feet we wouldn't need shoes.  But we have feet.  And shoes are amazing.  Ergo, the best thing about feet is the need for shoes.  Shut up, this totally makes sense.

Definitely team ewww with my 'Dad's feet'!! If I could get a foot transplant, I would. I don't believe there's any tool or cream on the Market that could possibly sort out the thick skin on my heels and sides of my big toes. And cracked heels every summer. Nail polish (at a glance) initially make my feet look passable for team ooo. But otherwise, I'm about to give up :-(

Just another body part to me. I don't get why people are so feet-averse

I'm not ooo and I'm not ewww, I'm somewhere in the middle. But that being said while I do have ingrown toenails from time to time and my little toes not having much nail, ovarally my feet look okay. I did go through a stage in my teens when I was into beautifying my feet and painting my toenails till I they became ingrown and then I didn't want to draw attention to them. Then after the last couple of years I've gotten more into paying attention to them. During winter when I wear socks all the time I stopped painting them but once it's much warmer I'm going to get back to sporting some pretty painted toenails.

I am team ewww especially with my own feet. I have flat feet and suffer from bunions (unfortunate I know) I try to do regularly maintenance on my feet to help reduce the ugliness. Scrubs, soaks, polish etc... whatever it takes. I have learnt comfort and support over pretty shoes as these bad boys ache.

I'm team 'In the middle' I even got my feet tattooed so I could actually look at them. So now I like them! I always grew up thinking I had ewwwww looking feet. Long looking toes. I even have webbed toes. So I grew to really dislike them. I love shoes! Heels and flats are my faves so having the tops of my feet exposed or toes on show in peep toe heels was going to happen. Feet became a thing I had to deal with. Tattoos on the top of my feet now make them look interesting, nail polish of all colours to make the toes pretty too. Lotions to make them soft! So yes I'm definitely in the middle. I'm ewww and ooo

My feet got really sensitive during and after my pregnancies and I couldn't bear for them to be touched. Apart from washing and drying of course. I have a large bunion on my left foot, even though I have never been a big high heels wearer. My bunion is really painful and 'burny' and as I have a job that requires long amounts of standing, my shoes have to be uber comfortable for at least 12 hours. Now, due to long standing periods (see above, I do love me a foot massage at the end of the day. It just soothes my tootsies and I'm pretty sure that it gives me a better sleep. It also helps with the hard heels. And I love my toes to be polished. I'm more likely to have polished toes than fingers lol. The polish lasts longer.

Yeah, nah, not a feet fan....

I am team ooo. I don't mind feet, and I like my own. I have small, narrow feet. The only problem is that they are very flat. That is awful that your little toenails never grew back BR Natalie. How traumatic for you.

30th August, 2016

I don't mint the feet, but I absolutely cannot have naked toenails, they are polished all year round, at least in summer you can show off the latest colour trends...On your wee toesies.

30th August, 2016

I'm somewhere in the middle. I don't mind giving myself a pedicure, but I wouldn't want someone else to give me one, nor would I want to give them a pedicure for example.

30th August, 2016

I'm in the middle - I do not like anyone touching my feet, but I love the feel of soft grass beneath my feet. I like to get them all warm in the sun, but I also LOVE my slippers. I need to take better care of my feet, they are very useful to being able to walk around.

30th August, 2016

I do admit that having feet is quite handy.lol. helps us balance and walk and who can forget shoes? But that doesnt mean that I like them. I try to keep mine covered most of the time. Definitely team ewww!

30th August, 2016

You must not have monkey toes hahahaha ;-) I can pick up just about anything with my toes lmfao. And imagining people without feet scares me slightly, what would we walk on? Stumps? our legs would be like stilts and it'd be a constant balancing act. Feet for life!!!

30th August, 2016

I love foot products. I'm definitely team ooo. I like using foot scrubs and foot lotions . I love the feeling of new shoes and socks.

I can pick things up with my toes too. Sometimes it is pretty handy, like when I can't be bothered reaching down to pick up a pen with my hands!

We'd be like cats and our whole shin would be our foot. Well kind-of...

Same! I hate anyone touching my feet and will never ever get a pedicure from someone else. Never.
