Fab Five Beauty Tools You Never Knew You Needed!

Article by BR Kellie

I’ll never forget the first time I saw an eyelash curler. It was a ‘what the?’ moment if ever there were one. All that curved and angled metal with a clamping mechanism on the top, it looked more like a torture device than something my eyelashes needed. But need one they did and once I got the handle of using the curler I never looked back.

Discovering a beauty tool you never knew you needed truly is an exciting affair, and there are just so many out there! So we’ve sussed out our top five favourites (for the moment anyway!).

The Paw Palette.

A must for makeup artists, these makeup-mixing palettes are a great way to help you create looks you love without making a massive mess. Even better, they come in fun and funky shapes, like kissy lips, cats and hearts. While they’re marketed at makeup artists, we reckon they’re great for any woman who likes to mix her own foundation shades, lippies and nail polishes.

Billy B Lash & Brow Groomer.

Do you suffer from clumpy eyelashes or eyebrows that won’t behave? You need to check out the Billy B Lash & Brow Groomer. This contraption looks like it should be attached to a medical professional, but what it is in a girl’s best brow and lash friend. Small enough to stow away in your makeup bag or purse, it’s ideal for those ‘ermagherd, my brows and lashes are so off fleek right now’.

The Epilator Stick

Are you plagued by stray facial hairs, but don’t want to spend loads on buying a hair removal device? Then an epilator stick could be what you’re after. With a simple twist and pull movement the hair is quickly and efficiently removed.  Best of all, they only cost a few dollars and are nice and small, so you can have one stashed in your handbag, glove box, office desk and bathroom for those ‘where did that come from?’ random hair moments.

Brow Buddy Kit.

The ladies were chatting a while back on the forum about whether their brows were sisters or twins or so distantly related they could pass each other on the street and have no idea they belonged to the same family. If you struggle with the latter you’ll love the Brow Buddy from Billion Dollar Brows. It’s described on their website as a ‘brow shaping genius’ – and we’d have to agree! The brow buddy takes into account your face shape, ensuring you can create brows that suit you – from where your brows should start and end to the shape of the arch. If you think it’s time for your brows to have a family reunion, then you need this in your life.

O Wow Brush.

Is this makeup brush not super surreal to look at? It reminds us of a tiny little brush you’d use for brushing a doll’s hair. Except it’s way cooler than that. Packed full of ultra fine fibres, it’s velvety smooth and a real treat for your skin. It can be used to apply primers, powders and creams, and when used with foundation leaves you looking as airbrushed as a model in a magazine. Oh wow alright!

There you have it, our top five weird yet truly wonderful beauty finds. Do you have any to add to the list? We’re always on the lookout for fab new products to try, so chat away!

I've seen two things from this list before the rest look foreign to me the wow brush I saw earlier in the year on you tube then again from the makeup show they had in Auckland someone had it in their goody bag I wouldn't mind getting me one. The BDB thingy seen before not sure if I'd buy it or want or need it. I most probably do need it but it looks so tricky to use.

The brow buddy has been on my wishlist for awhile. I haven't heard of the wow brush looks like some ergonomic body brush for dry brushing or for you back in the shower.

The paw pallet reminds me of the pin cushions sewers put on their wrists. I would love to get one of those epilatory sticks, just need to find where to get them?

26th September, 2015

I had never heard of the epilator stick before, must try it.

25th September, 2015

WOW you are right I never knew I needed these and YES I want them all!! The paw palette is one I would love to buy instead of carrying trays or using the back of your hand for mixing, and the epilator stick is one I want to try on myself :)

I'd love to try that brush and the brow buddy kit, the others I think I can live without.

I felt one of those make up brushes in life pharmacy last night and it felt phenomonal. I used it to swatch some concealer on my hand and holy wow, I will be purchasing one when I have a spare $60 lol

24th September, 2015

Omg I need them aaaaaaaaaaall. Absolutely mind blown about the epilator stick!

Really want the buddy brow kit. Oh how it would make a family reunion alright! Lash and brow groomer looks pretty good too

24th September, 2015

I've got a brow buddy. It's a really thick plastic which makes drawing your lines really difficult! Interested in the epilator stick though....

24th September, 2015

I am probably missing something, but the epilator stick seems to be to be glorified tweezers? I dont object, I'm mostly confused.

i think I might need the Brow Buddy. Along with my daughter - although I did her brows the other night & she was so excited about how perfect they were... used the Billion Dollar eyebrow pencil on her.

I saw the O WOW brush earlier this year and thought it looked interesting but wondered if it was over complicated and would the results be any different to a stippling brush?! haven't since it seen until now. And I need one of those palettes O_o :) I have been using an empty brush sleeve (plastic) for my nail polish.

24th September, 2015

These are some interesting products. The only one I have tried is the The Epilator Stick which I found it quite difficult to use!

24th September, 2015

These are all awesome in their own rights, but I really am intrigued by the o wow brushes. They look awesome, I must have a little research mission and find out more :P xx

I love gadgets and these look right up my ally. The WOW brush looks really interesting and the Brow Buddy Kit. The mixing palette seems a good idea too.I can't think of any other gadgets that you haven't mentioned but I am sure there will be some- perhaps a stencil lip shape to get that perfect look.
