Do you want to tackle the signs of ageing...while you sleep?

Beauty Sleep.  Sleeping Beauty.  A good night's rest is the key to great skin.  We've heard it all before a hundred times, right?  But do you know what your skin is busy doing while you sleep?

The Basics.

You know how our hair is psychologically dead?  As in, it has no blood, nerves or muscles?  The same goes for our top layer of skin.  The epidermis has no blood vessels and the very top layer of skin is made of tightly packed dead skin cells that shed during the day.

During the day your skin is pretty much under attack from environmental factors, the weather and cosmetics.

So what happens when I sleep?

When you're in a deep sleep the metabolic rate of the skin speeds up - the skin cells increase in production and the breakdown of proteins reduces.  Essentially your skin begins to repair itself.

During sleep your body produces less of the stress hormone cortisol.  Cortisol is responsible for thinning skin, stretch marks and discolouration. Conversely, sleep increases the production of melatonin, which is the body's equivalent of an antioxidant.  It fights age spots and fine lines.

A 'proper night's sleep' (as The Mummy calls it) can also boost the efficiency of the growth hormones that repair and regenerate collagen producing cells.  Collagen is a protein that strengthens blood vessels and gives skin it's elasticity.

Will any sleep do the trick?

Nope!  Cell repair happens at all stages of sleep, but daytime sleep isn't a substitute for night time sleep when it comes to skin repair.

Why?  The energy needed to repair tissue isn't available during a nap.  This 'spare' energy only becomes available during deep sleep.

You're about to blow my mind aren't you?

Pretty much.  Olay have released a regime that delivers powerful anti-ageing ingredients when the skin is most active - while you are sleeping.  So while your skin is putting maximum effort into repairing it's DNA, you can boost the efforts with targeted ingredients designed to work with your skin while you sleep!

The luxurious Olay Regenerist Overnight Overnight Miracle Regime is packed with powerful ingredients, including Peptide, Niacinamide, Olive-M, Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerol and LysLastine. These ingredients work with your skin’s natural repair rhythm to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, increase skin’s elasticity and bolster skin resilience against environmental stressors.

The regime starts with the Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence which starts the renewal of a million surface cells with just one drop!  When you use the Pre-Essence combined with the award-winning Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream, you'll deliver twice the advanced anti-ageing actives 10 skin-layers deep!   Then in the evening, it's time for the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Night Cream, a unique gel-like formula assists with cell renewal and repair while you sleep.

15 incredibly lucky reviewers are going to be putting the brand spanking new regime to the test, each reviewing all three products,  valued at over $130!

So if you'd love to join this trial team (who wouldn't?!) why not tell us about your experience with overnight treatments - do you regularly use them or is it all new to you?  Are you just starting to delve into the world of anti-ageing products or are you neck deep in the age-defying product range?  Why do you want a spot on this trial team?

I've never tried over night skincare before. I'm interested to see the reviews for this. I love skincare. I'm always keen for skincare lol

I have tried De Winns and would love to trial this as a comparison as the cost of this product is more affordable. I am at the age where I do require help and my neck is something I am conscious of as that is my worst area.

Hey this is quite exciting! I'm quite tempted to put my hand forward but I'm sure there are plenty of other ladies that deserve the chance to try this out.

I have read and watched several reviews and bloggers talk about how they use this skin care product and how great it is. I believe that they also produce one that doesn't contain fragrance! Yay for Olay!!!

Lately I've been getting into anti-aging serums and read how you use such and such at night (not because of the sleep cycle but because some of it reacts to light, some of it you just can't wear during the day due to thickness, some you can't mix with something else etc - all very confusing).

Good luck ladies, I look forward to reading your reviews and urge you to give this a half decent chance ie don't expect dramatic changes within two weeks, good skin care can take about 6 weeks to show signs of improvement.

you had me at sleeping beauty! (one of my favorite, dontchaknow). so, the serum and a moisturizer go on in the day time..? or before bed..? Please explain more :P I have used a few anti aging thangs before but I never stuck to it and used them whenever I wanted, every few weeks hahaha whoooops

I also wish the metabolism for fat sped up... that'd be really nice. imagine, getting thinner as you sleep! ahhh the ultimate dream.

Me too! But I have read that enough sleep makes you crave less sweets and pastries and stuff so I guess in an indirect way. Or you can be tired and just not have that stuff in the house, that's what I did until I started living with family.

My dream too !!! Wouldn't that be so nice.

Beyond a night cream I haven't tried any night treatments of any kind, but I am definitely going to give it a go now. Really interested to see how different people find this.

Wow! this looks amazing!! At the moment I alternate each night with either a serum oil or a night cream. I keep things fairly simple.

This sounds amazing! The only over night cream I've ever used was an undereye one which I didn't really feel like it did much. The miracle boost sounds amazing, but the over night moisutiser is what I'm keen to read reviews on the most!

Yes please, sounds amazing, would love to try this!

Never tried overnight skincare - and have the frown wrinkles to prove it. Great for us "lazy" (busy) mothers

Would love to try this. I am 54 so well down the anti-aging path and always looking for something new that might help. I currently use eye cream, oil, night serum but nothing seems to stop those wrinkles multiplying!

I know the feeling -Good Luck

This would be fab to try - I am starting to see the signs of aging (the odd wrinkle and everything just looks a bit tired) and it would be great to get some aid in the fight

WOW these look absolutely amazing!! I've never tried any specific overnight products I don't think, but they sound wonderful. I'm still quite young but am also wanting to look into anti-aging options to prevent fine lines developing :D Would love to try these out!

I have never tried a dedicated overnight skincare routine before but am sooooooooo keen to try this set of products. I've just run out of my preferred skincare products and I can no longer purchase them in NZ so am on the hunt for anything to keep the wrinkles at bay. This sounds right up my alley!

I would love to try this! My skin needs all the help it can get with a 6 month old baby girl who hasnt slept through night yet! I guess i know why my partner looked so young when we first meet (before the kids) lol he use to sleep all the time haha! No time for that noe

I actually don't use night treatments as I can't really afford them - I just use a plain old moisturiser every night, but at my age (halfway to 90 arrgghh!!) I really should probably start using something like this. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to trial these items from Olay (my late Grandma used Olay (Oil of Ulan) most of her life and had the most gorgeous skin, soft and really hardly any wrinkles right up until she passed, bless her :)
