Do You Use a Foundation Brush?

They say the right tool can make any job easier, more effective and more efficient - this is especially true of makeup brushes! The right makeup brush can make a difficult product a dream to apply.  It can blend colours and shades seamlessly and it can truly make a difference to the overall look you're creating.

And yet we seem to be very reluctant to part with our cash when it comes to makeup brushes.  We think nothing of paying for a lipstick, but don't see the point of parting with our cash to buy a brush that will give us even application and a perfect finish.  We'll spend money on an eyeshadow palette, yet hate the thought of paying for a brush that will help those colours blend and sit exactly how and where we want them to.

One of the most essential brushes in your kit is the foundation brush.  Whether you regularly wear foundation, or maybe only wear it a couple of times a week, it's worth investing in a top quality brush.  A good brush will last you for years and prove more economical than wedges and sponges simply because a brush won't absorb the product and will allow you to achieve the thinnest layer of foundation.  They're also great for blending in those tricky areas, like the hair line.

We're putting the Artiste Airbrush Blurring Foundation Brush to the test. The thick, soft, densely packed brush head picks up just the right amount of foundation for an even, airbrushed finish. You can quickly and fully cover your entire face with a few strokes of this luxurious brush!

We're looking for 25 foundation wearers to put this $45 brush to the test.  Does it sound like something you'd like to try?  Then get chatting to us about brushes.

When it comes to makeup brushes do you opt for high end, or are you more of a budget buyer?  Do you tar all brushes with, erm, the same brush - simple things that transfer product from pot to skin, with little to separate the great from the average? Do you think there's really that much difference between brands?  Do you currently use a foundation brush?  How do you find it?  If you don't use a foundation brush, what are you currently using to apply your foundation?  Why do you want to move from that?

I use mixture of a RT a RT blender and fingers

I always apply my makeup including foundation with brushes. I wear foundation 6 - 7 days per week. Occasionally I'll have a makeup free Sunday :) I've always used good brushes or so I believed but even amongst the "high end" brushes their performance varies. I used to use all MAC. Then I got a set of Dior brushes but they shed terribly and I was really disappointed with their performance. I bought a set of Sephora Airbrush brushes a couple of years ago which worked well but now the foundation brush has had it. I'm currently on the look out for new brushes. Was considering Real Techniques or Shaanxo's brushes. To try this brush would be amazing :)

I currently use an angled foundation brush. While I like it, I have been looking for a round top foundation brush that is budget friendly. When applying foundation I will either use a sponge or brush, depending on what works best with the foundation. I never my fingers. I do believe there is a difference in quality of brands, but a high price does not necessarily mean a better product. I want to try a round top foundation brush as I don't really like the angle of the brush I have now, but do like the varied length in bristles. I really do not like flat top foundation brushes and paddle brushes.

I would love to trial this, I have just switched my foundation and find that my usual application method (by hand) isn't getting such a great result.

I use a mixture of my beauty blender and a foundation brush by Sigma. The reason I prefer my beauty blender is because it is better than my high end brush by not leaving streaks and not taking ages to blend out. I would love to review this brush to see if I can go back to being a brush lover!

Yes I've used a Kabuki brush it was amazing and blends so well, but its 5 years old so probably needs an upgrade

I would love to trial this brush as I have never tried a brush before. I just use my fingers to apply foundation, but the make up experts always seem to use brushes.

Yes please I use my fingers and sometimes I use a sponge. So to be able to use such lovely brushes will be a first for us both. Thank you so much.

I wear liquid foundation that I apply with a beauty sponge but I would love to try a brush to see if it is any better.

Would love to trial, hard to find good brushes.

I generally apply makeup with my fingers or a sponge. I did try a brush a while ago but found it quite streaky. It wasn't an expensive brush so this more than likely caused the problem. I would love to trial the Artiste brush as I use a liquid foundation.

I have started applying foundation with a sponge only because the brush I have leaves streaks on my face which I use a sponge to get rid of anyways...always keen to try a new foundation brush, as another lady said, sponges just absorb a lot of the product anyways

I wear foundation everyday and always apply with a brush, I currently have a paddle brush, and a stiple brush but haven't spent a lot on foundation brushes. I would love to see what this brush can achieve.

I own two kabuki brushes from sigma and I used to use rhem religiously. Then all the hype for the beauty blender happened so I got one to try and switched after my first try. Now I use a duo fiber brush, I feel it gives me a lighter finish and doesn't make the product feel too heavy on my skin. I'm always keen to try new brushes though!
