Do you use a barrier cream?

As Nanna Barbara would say; prevention is better than cure.  Now she applied this to all areas of life, from not getting drunk to prevent a hangover, to taking your Vitamin C to prevent a cold.  She also installed the importance of moisturising to prevent nasty cracks and splits.

You've probably noticed your skin is more prone to dryness and flaking in the colder weather.  The colder weather is also probably making any really persistant areas of dryness quite uncomfortable, if not sore.  I know if I don't religiously apply handcream throughout Winter my hands not only become incredibly dry, as the skin seems to harden, it splits.  In between my fingers and around my nails.  And it hurts!  For some people, it's their feet that cause the most discomfort, for others areas like their elbows and knees become prone to dry, scaly and cracked skin.

So let's say you didn't follow Nanna Bab's advice and slather on the moisturiser.  How can you make those sore spots more comfortable and prevent them reoccuring?

Simple - you need a good barrier cream!

We're putting Moanui Skin Repairer to the test.  This emu oil all-purpose hand and skin cream is suitable for anyone with dry, scaly, cracked or damaged skin.  It moisturises and protects the skin, forming a protective barrier to prevent repetitive damage while the reparative properties of the oil assists the healing of minor cuts, scratches and abrasions to help repair.

It has silicon to provide extra protection and can be used on any part of the body that needs an intense moisture and protective cream.  Feedback from satisfied customers has been overwhelming.  It not only acts as a superb hand cream, it actually repairs cracked and bleeding skin on heels and hands.

  • Repair cracked hands and heels
  • Barrier function
  • Moisturise
  • Protect
  • Heal minor cuts

No I don't use a barrier cream but after reading this article, omg I need it! I took my socks off the other day and was in shock when I noticed how dry my feet were. My skin really suffers in the cooler months so this would be amazing as regular moisturizers just don't cut it!

I have never used a barrier cream but am all for trialing this! Will be interesting to see if there is a difference.

The barrier cream almost sounds to good to be true, I have used a lot of creams and potions on my heels in particular as I suffer from very dry feet and dare I say it .... "cracked heels". I have tried using scrubs, exfoliators, foot spas, creams specifically for feet, body butter, moisturisers with socks to keep moisture in, you name it I've tried it. I'd be interested to see how this works and if it can "conquer my feet".

This sounds like the kind of product I need! My skin gets really dry especially my elbows and heels. I feel like no matter how much I try moisturise through winter nothing seems to be able to keep my skin nourished. This product sound like it would be up to the task!

I have just gotten my elbow tatooed and BOY OH BOY the skin is soooo dry even after the healing process! I also have noticed I can feel the rough edges of my soles on my sheets-what a hideous feeling!!!!!! I wonder if this would also fix the grey/darker skin on the knees, ankles?????

Everything needs a barrier against the cold with this weather- brrr! My feet and hands would suck this up!

I use barrier cream constantly - on my hands after every hand wash and on my feet once a day. My hands get very dry if I don't use it. I go bare foot most of the year so need something to keep my feet soft.

My forearms get terribly dry in winter, and nothing seems to be able to penetrate enough! Maybe this is what I'm looking for

My hands and feet get very dry in winter and are often cold! Doesn't help working in air-con/heated environment as well sucks all moisture out of those areas! Would love to try this and see if it is my new holy grail!

This is the first I've heard of emu oil being used in skin care products. I can't say I use a barrier cream apart from petroleum jelly (pawpaw cream), does that count as a barrier cream? I am quite fortunate that I don't get dry hands. Everyone else in my family gets terribly dry hands, so I have no idea how I dodged that bullet. My dads hands are so dry the corners of his fingers bleed, ouch! So I might recommend this product to him. I have however noticed that my heels and balls of my feet are drying out and becoming hard now that it's winter.
