Once upon a time women were scorned for buying and wearing cosmetics. They were still expected to look beautiful of course, but any 'extra help' was expected to be secret. A Victorian woman would never be seen touching up her lippie in public, let alone be brazen enough to apply a full face!
Somewhere along the way, that changed. I grew up watching films where real ladies were constantly heading to the powder room to check and touch up their makeup. No true lady was ever without her compact. Ok I grew up watching films from the forties and fifties but still, I learned that makeup needed to be maintained through the day or evening. The Queen (the real Queen, not the Queen of BR) has been known to discretely reapply her lipstick after finishing a banquet and hey, if it's good enough for Her Royal Highness, who are we to disparage?
And then somewhere along the way, I grew up and got busy and decided that I did not enjoy touching up my makeup, and began seeking out either long lasting formulas or low maintenance looks. It's only really on a night out that I might touch up my lipstick, and to be honest, I'm probably more likely to whip out the lipgloss, sans mirror and go with that.
But am I the norm or is New Zealand full of ladies that touch up their makeup regularly through the day? Do they carry a full makeup arsenal and check every aspect of their look? Or are we a nation of quick touch ups, maybe just carrying a lippy and a mirror?

I always seam to take my make up with me in my handbag but very rearly do i bother touching it up. To be honest i dont see the need to. If i find its looking patchy of course ill touch it up. but with the help of my maxfactor primer and good quality make up i dont find it wears off very often.
