Do you know WHY exfoliating is good if you have ACNE?

Do you have hormanal breakouts, teenage acne or oily skin prone to blemishes?  Are you regularly using a gentle exfoliant?  No?  Sit down.  School is in session.

Acne prone and oily skin generally sheds more skin cells than any other skin type - but instead of falling off, these dead cells stick to the oils on your skin; clogging pores and creating blackheads and spots.  Now cleansing can help remove this debris and is a vital daily step in your skin care routine, but it's not the most effective way to tackle the problem.

Exfoliating helps to remove the skin cell debris from the outermost layer of your skin, preventing a build up, which in turn prevents breakouts.  Exfoliation also smooths and evens the skin tone, it's a brilliant way to minimise scarring from pimples and pigmentation issues that come from healing breakouts. The key is to be gentle though - you want a scrub that isn't too abrasive and you'll only want to use it a couple of times a week.

We're putting Zeosoft Natural Mineral Face Scrub to the test.

Zeosoft's Natural Mineral Face Scrub is a weekly face scrub containing Soft Zeolite. These minerals gently wash away impurities & exfoliate, leaving your skin feeling fresh, supple and revived.  This product is 100% natural and contain no parabens, no colourants, no artificial fragrances, no EDTA and is also environmentally 'positive' - it continue to clean when entering the waterways.

We're really interested to read reviews from people who have tried this scrub on their acne / blemish prone skin - so if this sounds like you, and you're keen to give it ago, tell us below!  And why not share your exfoliation experiences below!

I haven't tried this but the article and reviews from others are very positive so I would like to use it for my skin

My skin is full of breakouts and acne. I have tried several products but some of them only works temporarily and then ache comes back again. I am looking for this kind of product which not only solves my skin acne proble but also leaves it radiant and glowing. I am very keenly looking forward to use this product and try on my skin. I want healing to my skin which I have not obtained from the products I have been using.

My face responds so well to my menopausal acne when I have a good old exfoliation. I find it all heals a lot better and faster. I have never heard of Zeosoft and would love to try it to compare with the current Clinque exfoliator that I use.

I would love to trial this please. Previously I have been told that exfoliating too much causes the acne to be worse by increasing oil production but the phrase "Exfoliating helps to remove the skin cell debris from the outermost layer of your skin, preventing a build up, which in turn prevents breakouts. " makes so much sense. As I suffer from mature acne, this could be an absolute lifesaver. I would be over the moon to give this a go, especially being a natural ingredient product with no nasties and no microbeads!!

I would love to find an effective but gentle face scrub as with my oily skin I do get the odd break out!

I am always on the hunt for a new exfoliator - I want one that does the job without being too harsh I feel they are either too harsh or not that effective. I try to use one at least once to twice a week to prevent dead skin build up and also to promote cell regeneration for a glowing complexion.

I am all for exfoliating, find my skin doesn't get any spots (not acne put just bumps) when I exfoliate. Mind you I am very gentle with it, don't want to damage my skin by being too enthusiastic. I have been using exfoliating cleansers for years but have to say I do watch out that any scrub is safe to wash away. I have been sticking to one brand but would love love a change.

Being "enviromentally" safe wins me over and better still using NZ products - win win :)

I scrub once a week using the Sub24 scrub. Before I had that one I wouldn't scrub my face at all - I have big problems with sensitivity and dryness. I have always been curious about mineral scrubs though, so I hope people enjoy this trial and tell us all about it!

I love a good exfoliater but I did NOT know it was good for acne - excited. This also sounds like a fantastic brand I'll be keeping an eye out for this.

It sounds good because it's natural, and I always prefer scrubs that use naturally sourced beads (eg. walnut shell). I have oily and breakout prone skin so I always use a scrub because I truly believe it's the best way to remove my makeup and totally clean my face in one whole go. PLUS I always love trying out new NZ made products; i'd love to give it a try!

I get adult acne and find it very embarrassing. This product would be great to try to see if it helps.

I have never tried this particular product before, but am a big fan of exfoliating scrubs in general. I have clear skin one week that looks great and then the following a nasty hormonal spotty mess has emerged. I find I have to exfoliate regularly just to keep the "bad skin weeks" under control. I also am a big fan of natural products, so this would be a product I'd be drawn to using due to being paraben free, 100% natutal etc.

28th March, 2017

I didn't know that, but do use an exfoliator a couple of times a week, just because my skin looks more glowing after :)

27th March, 2017

I've been dealing with acne for a really long time and I'm always on the hunt for trying new natural products that help my skin get rid of excess oils without stripping my face and maintaining my ph levels.

27th March, 2017

even though I have 'older' skin, I find I still need to exfoliate at least once a week otherwise my skin feels really unclean and I get a mini break out
