Create The Ultimate Car Beauty Kit

I am of the firm belief that in every car’s glovebox there should be a manual for the car (because you never know when you’re going to need it), a First Aid kit just in case, and a mini beauty kit. I know, I know, that’s what a handbag’s for. But sometimes you don’t need or want to carry a handbag complete with a makeup bag jammed with product. Sometimes you just want to slip your license and money cards into your pocket, grab your keys and go. But you can be sure that the time you go all basic will be the one time when your lippy fades, or your face goes oily, or you realise you’re a bit stinky, and you’re stuck without any products to sort yourself out with.

So what should this kit contain? Well, not as much as a handbag kit might. Just a few basics that’ll see you through any dramas for a couple of hours until you’re in the vicinity of your stash again.

Lips gone patchy and you forgot to bring yours along with you for touch-ups? Eyeliner smudged all of a sudden? Foundation patched or oxidised? A pack of makeup wipes can tidy up any messes quick as a flash. Another option is to decant some micellar water into a little bottle and put it, along with makeup pads or cotton balls, into a sealable bag.

Speaking of lipstick that’s gone a bit skewiff. Sometimes a streaky mess can be blended out and made to look decent again with a little tinted lipbalm, so it’s good to have a coloured balm in your kit as well. It can also be used when your lips are feeling less than luxurious, or when you realise you forgot to put lippy on and you’re looking less pulled together than you’d like.

Has your carefully styled hair gone haywire? Add some hairpins and a hair tie into your stash and you’ll always have the ability to tidy up your tresses. Oh, and if your hair has the habit of going from fresh as a daisy to absolute oil slick, it can’t hurt to have a travel sized dry shampoo come along for the ride too.

Sunscreen. No ifs, buts or maybes. You need to have sunscreen in your kit. You never know when you might find yourself out and about for longer than expected, whether that be for a spur of the moment shopping trip, or an unexpected spot of exercise, or when you pop into a friends house and they decide it’s a good day to sit outside. Don’t get caught short, your skin and potentially your health will thank you for it.

You’ll also want to find a mini-deodorant, because we all know that moment when you’re out and about, lift your arms for a second and catch the scent of something stinky, and then realise you can’t do anything about it and the rest of the world is going to have to deal with your aroma. Well, if there’s a mini-deo in your car they won’t have to. And you won’t have to keep your arms glued to your sides like a robot.

Last of all? Peppermints or mints or one of those Listerine Pocketpaks are an absolute must, because there is nothing beautiful ever about bad breath. If you’ll be getting up close to others and you’ve been eating something less than deliciously scented, pop a mint in your mouth, and you’re good to go.

So do tell… do you have a beauty kit for your car? Have you thought about creating one? Are you thinking about creating one now? What must-haves are already or would be in yours? Chat away!

Great tips - all the essentials!

21st October, 2016

I think this is a great idea. I usually just lug my makeup bag with me - it just has a few essentials for touch ups like lippies, mascara (incase I run out the door and forget this step), hair ties, cotton buds (for lip products that are in a tub), hair oil and mini perfumes.

I had some of these things in my glove box. The lippy melted, the wipes dried out. It just gets so hot in the car in the summer and I have to park on the street for work with no shelter. Sad face.

One of the great things about having a kit like this in your car I've found is that you can help out other people too. Often I've been able to come to the rescue with mints, hand or make up wipes, and bobby pins! Though there are a few things I wouldn't want to share :P

The only beauty related items I have had stashed in my glove boxes is a brush and a canister of spray deodorant... and maybe a lip balm. I change cars often though so my hand bag is my go to place for touch up beauty items or such

I tend to carry everything around in my handbag. I have never left make-up in the car due to the heat.

I usually have hair ties, mascara, mints, lip balm, and baby wipes for any messes. I've always wondered about getting a dry shampoo, but haven't tried one yet. Anyone have any advice as to how they work/whether to get one? Generally I can wash my hair every second day but sometimes my hair gets oily at the 1 1/2 day mark and I can only wear it tied up because otherwise it looks greasy.

Really a great idea! I would pop in a mini hairspray, for your hair emergencies :)

I don't have any of this stuff in my car besides a pack of tissues. I tend to have most of this kind of stuff in my regular bag so I'm covered!

Hmmm keeping makeup products in the car cant be good can it because of the heat. Melted lipstick abd balm oh no

Love this idea! I need to pop a kit together for the summer months, would be so handy for after work do's or spontaneous beach hopping. I'd add tampons/liners as well for those just in case moments.

gosh I think id need to clean my car out before I could fit all that in there think its filled with paperwork, but it is a brilliant idea I think I make up some little packs like this for the girls for Christmas. Thanks BR

Good idea I do have a simple first aid kit in my car & my makeup bags are in there too but they don't have any wipes left time to refill since it is mentioned to be spring

6th October, 2016

I don't have a car, but in my purse/backpack I always have: wipes, lip gloss and balm, tampons, hair tie, handcream, mini fragrance.

6th October, 2016

I don't have a kit for my car as I find most of it will be in my handbag or the babies bag!
