Can you really curl your hair using...marshmallows?

Don’t you just hate it when you decide you really want to rock mermaid hair, or beachy waves, or cute-girl curls, and then you go to find your hair tongs or straighteners or curlers and the magical fairies of Beautyland have transported them away to somewhere so special you probably won’t be able to find them for a week or two? Well, huff and puff in annoyance no more, because recently we came across a way to curl your hair… and all you have to do is head to your pantry, oh, and make sure you’ve got a serious stash of giant pillow-y marshmallows in it.

Yep. Marshmallows.

YouTube beauty vlogger, Grav3yardgirl, wanted to test out a hairdryer head hood attachment thingymabob, but, like so many of us can relate to, she could not find her rollers, so she decided to use marshmallows to roll her hair up in instead. We’ve seen bubble wrap and kitchen sponge, but this was next level. So she got her roll on, then used the hood attachment to dry her hair. This you have to see to believe, check out the video:

Now we can’t help but feel the hood is fun and all, but you could get the same drying with just the hairdryer, anyhooooo… that’s not the point of the article. The point is… she used marshmallows to help curl her hair. So how did they turn out? Surprisingly ok.

Sure, there were a few globs of marshmallowy goodness attached to her hair, but they were definitely curled, and they even looked a little glossy. So, what do we see as being the upsides and downsides of curling your hair wish marshmallows?

Upside - if you hate marshmallows and have a bag sitting gathering dust in the cupboard you can attempt this as a creative way to get rid of them.

Downside - you could well end up with sticky marshmallow hair, which ants will attempt to climb up into for a feed.

Upside – if you’re hungry while doing your hair and you enjoy marshmallows you have a snack on hand… (yeah, we’re stretching.)

Downside - you’ll have to wash your bobby pins because they’ll be super sticky afterwards.

Another downside - if you blowdried your hair on hot you could end up melting marshmallow onto your scalp, which we imagine isn’t ideal.

Oh, and it’s a giant waste of delicous sugary pillow-y yum-yum-yummy marshmallows.

Yup, I think it’s fair to say that while we admire Grav3yardgirl’s ingenious way to curl her hair when she’s in a jam, it’s not something we’ll be doing in a hurry. So do tell… have you ever used food products to help curl your hair? Would you give this a go if no other option presented itself? Or have you been there and done that with marshmallow curls and moved onto something more exotic… like sausage rolls? Chat away…

All I can think of is sticky hair! Kudos to her though for her innovation and committment to achieving the style she wanted.

I would so not try this! I feel like I don't even have the skills to use plastic rollers, let alone a food item. Or I would over dry them and get them stuck and my partner would laugh.

I've seen so many YouTube videos etc or people suing all sorts of objects to curl their hair with. Not sure i would use marshmallows though..

12th November, 2016

I love marshmallows too much to waste them.

7th November, 2016

I love Bunny, she likes to try everything no matter how wacky things may be, I couldnt do this, I would eat all the marshmallows before I began. Will you be trying this Kellie? :)

Your hair might smell like yummy marshmellow

4th November, 2016

Nope I wouldn't use marshmallows. My hair is dark so any bit of pink or white sugary debris on it would've shown against the dark back drop of my hair.

No thanks I cannot get past the thought of sticky hair. Ugh.

3rd November, 2016

Yep, I'm in the camp of people who would rather eat them :)

3rd November, 2016

I can't stand said youtuber so I ain't gunna watch it, and I don't think I'll waste marshmellows curling my hair! I'd rather shove them in some yoghurt with pineapple lumps *drool*

3rd November, 2016

Nope. I like eating marshmallows too much to waste them on my hair.

3rd November, 2016

Lol I'm surprised it wasn't a stickier mess

3rd November, 2016

No Yuk !!! Food as a roller no thanks -I would feel as though I needed to wash my hair all day.

3rd November, 2016

Hahaha that is awesome :) need to have a curling party with a few bottles of wine, then you can eat the marshmallows (well probably not actually haha)
