Beauty Review - 4 Week Water Challenge

Every one knows the secret to good skin, hair, nails, general health and wellbeing isn't a magical exilir - it's water.  We don't need to be told we need to drink 8 glasses / 2 litres a day again do we?

A recent article in a UK newspaper stated that 1 in 5 women do not drink enough water.  The statistics here in NZ are that 60% of all Kiwis do not drink enough water.  That UK newspaper ran a 4 week challenge to if water really makes that much of a difference to our health and appearance  - the results were quite startling!

42 year old Sarah increased her water intake to 3 litres a day and after four weeks noticed a number of changes.  She lost 2lbs, an inch off her waist, had more energy and much improved skin.  (We're suspecting a little bit of make up in the after photo, but still the effects are pretty good!)  The only thing she changed in her routine was that she drank more water.  She admits to still having boozy nights and drinking caffeinated drinks!

So can a simple change such as drinking more water have the same dramatic effects for anyone?  We want to find out, so Beauty Review is going to run our own 4 Week Water Challenge - and we want our members to get involved!

We'll start on Sunday (everyone knows starting a life style change on a Monday is doomed to fail!), so if you want to take the challenge it's really easy - email us your before photo to [email protected], or send them to us via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.  Then increase your water intake for 4 weeks and note the changes you see (this could be weight, waist measurement, skin, hair, nails, energy levels).  At the end of the 4 weeks send us your after photos! 

We're not recommending everyone drinks 3 litres (there is such a thing as too much water!) but check out this great Kiwi health site for Water Guidelines.

And yes we know we're asking a lot - to appear on a national website without your make up on; so in the spirit of Girl Power, if we get 10 members accepting the challenge; we'll persuade one of the BR team to join in!

And it wouldn't be BR without a trip to the endless prize cupboard - we'll randomly pick one entrant at the end of the 4 weeks and send them a little something-something!

Started drinking alot more water comeing to summer! I feel more refreashd during the day :)

I try to drink as much water as I can, but if BR does this again, I'm definitely jumping on board. You can never drink too much water :) x

I fluctuate between drinking lots of water, and hardly touch the stuff. I find that I definitely hydrate more when I have a drink bottle handy (because god forbid I have to walk all the way to the kitchen for a glass!).

Definitely going to try this! Have got a super oily T Zone and with my sisters wedding coming up in Jan I need to lose a few kilos and get my skin looking amazing! The heat will naturally help with water intake too - at the moment I'm currently drinking about 1.5 ltrs of water a day which isn't great but better than nothing - will be upping it to 3 ltrs for sure. :)

Was crazy busy at the time this started - but might just start this week for the sake of it. I don't drink nearly enough water so this could be the answer to my skin woes? Maybe :)

I drink no where near enough water so it will be interesting to see how I go and maybe make a good lifestyle change in the process. Added bonus of supporting my friend who will be doing this too :)

This would be awesome for me to try , i dont even drink a glass a day i just stick to my juice ( terrible i no) I MUST START NOW!

Ohhhhh..... I know I need to do this. Just spent some time in hosp where I was encouraged to drink lots of water and I came out feeling really good. People even commented how good I looked after having major surgery, lol. So, I'm sure it has something to do with the water.... been very slack since being home so this could be just the boost I need to get back on the water wagon!!. Geez, a make-up free pic??? scary, that alone will be a challenge, lol.

I'll give it a go. I've just quit smoking so need something else to do and waters a pretty good option. It will also be good to see if my skin improves.

I definitely recommend this. A few months ago when I joined the gym I increased my water intake dramatically and can honestly say i've noticed heaps of differences within my skin and energy levels. I don't even crave sweet drinks anymore at all, i'll always reach for water. Sometimes i'll drink green tea too, it's said to increase your metabolism and is very low calorie, whilst helping to hydrate you also, so why not? :)

This is such a good idea, I'm definitely going to try it! I used to HATE water, but since starting Bikram yoga I have definitely learnt to appreciate it! Water cooled to almost frozen also has weight loss properties as once you drink it your body has to warm it up before it can be distributed to your organs and blood. So, not only does it have no calories, it can also help you burn them!!!
