Are You Yellowing Your Teeth Without Knowing It?

Some people have hair goals, or contour goals, or flawless skin goals. Here at Beauty Review? We have white teeth goals. There's a reason every year we find ourselves writing an article about how to get whiter teeth. In fact we've written so many, and talked about it so often, we feel like we know there's everything to know.

Except.

We don't.

Recently we came across this article on Us and well, there may have been a few jaws dropping to the ground.

You see in the article makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic (aka Kim K's main man - sorry Kanye, you know it's true...) gave his top tips for making your teeth look whiter when you're wearing makeup.

One tip we know well enough - stick to blue based lipsticks and glosses as the blue undertones cancel out the yellowness. But the second tip?

Don't bronze. Back away from the glow as the yellowness of the bronzer only emphasises the yellowness of your teeth. Although Mario, clearly being a man who knows beauty lovers, does say that if you must bronze then keep it light and then use a light gloss to emphasise brightness.

He also suggests we brush our teeth before applying makeup to avoid altering a hue. Sound advice from the ambassador for Colgate Optic White. Also, how white are his teeth? And how much of a babe is he? Seriously, scrolling through his Instagram feed is truly a pleasure. Mario, never stop taking selfies.

So there you have it - brush your teeth, avoid yellow makeup tones, and stick to blue undertones for your lip products and you'll enjoy a smile that'll turn heads.

Was this bronzing tip as new to you as it was to us? Is your mind blown right now? Will you be backing away from the bronzer? Or will you be taking Mario's tips on board? Chat away!

Red Seal Smoker's toothpaste is fab for whitening your teeth. However, other self-care such as limiting coffee or tea intake as well as rinsing after drinking them is also crucial.

Very useful article

That's interesting because I always use cool toned bronzers/contours anyway. It just seems to look more natural on me since I'm pale.

Interesting article - I don't like the yellow bronze look as so artificial and I would think you usually clean your teeth prior to applying make up as that makes sense.

I dont know how to tell if makeup has cool or warm undertones

I've just posted a pic on the photo wall that should help you.

Thanks Silvene, I didn't know either.

That's excellent advice thank you. And I agree, I could look at him all day :)

After seeing this Today I decided not to contour and bronze

I suppose I am lucky in a sense that I don't bronze or contour (not really confident and don't want to look bad so I don't try).

Well my skin naturally has a yellow undertone so my base skincare has a yellow undertone. I still will be using a bronzer, but then I've never gone for a heavily bronzed look.

I haven't heard of this until now. I always wear bright lipsticks to enhance my pearly whites

Hmm not buying it

This is interesting! I've never bronzed because of muddiness but I see his justification

Very interesting! I'm always pretty picky with lipstick anyway and generally stick to the same shades, but never would have thought about bronzer! I'm one of the pale girls though, so usually go for cool toned bronzers, hopefully I'm safe!

I skip bronzing most of the time anyway but I can't see me sacrificing the morning coffee.

Me neither. Some things are a deal breaker!

I like coffee and citrus fruits like mandarins and oranges which do yellow the teeth!
