Are Lip Oils better than lipstick? Gloss? Lip Creams?

I have a new obsession. And unlike my usual obsessions, which tend to involve food, usually of the junk variety, this one is actually good for me – and it makes me look good too! Lip products featuring oil. They are my new jam. The obsession started when I watched my bestie (in my dreams) Tati do a YouTube video in which she went through and talked about the new Lancome Juicy Shakers. Instant need. So I stalked Farmers waiting for them to come out, and the moment they did I raced in and bought one*, it was the shade Piece of Cake and it smelt as good as it felt. A couple of weeks later I bought Cherry Symphony. And I’m now ready to snag another.

So what makes lip products containing oil so darn fabulous? Well they nourish your lips beautifully whilst adding a gorgeous stain. They’re not as sticky as other glosses, and they give your kissers a wonderful shine that lends itself to making your lips appear plumper.

So what’s out there? (And what do I have my eye on next?!) Here are five fab finds!

Obviously, topping this list is Lancome’s Juicy Shaker. It features a bi-phase oil formula, which when combined with coloured pigment creates a lush treat for the lips. And quite honestly, there’s nothing like seeing the pigment and oils separate and then shaking them up cocktail style to mix them back together. So. Much. Fun!

A product that does double duty is Clinique’s Pop Oil Lip & Cheek Glow. Featuring safflower, jojoba and sunflower seed oils, it gives the skin and lips a subtle but beautiful glow – always gorgeous during the summer months!

Looking for something a little more natural? It’s worth checking out Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in No.1 Honey. This picture perfect lip product is infused with 100% pure plant oils, and can be worn alone or over lipstick.

The Body Shop’s also on board the oil train, with the Lip & Cheek Stain. Featuring Marula oil, it adds a natural flush of colour to the cheeks and lips.

I bow before the design of Yves Saint Laurent’s Volupte Tint in Oil. Sleek, shiny, silver, with a hint of what colour’s to come via the shade band featuring the logo. It would look so good lying in the bottom of my tote. Featuring apricot kernel oil, coriander fruit oil, jojoba seed oil and possiflora edulis seed oil, it offers ample hydration as well as luminous shine.

So many choices… only one pair of lips to work with … sigh. So, have you tried a lip tint oil product yet? Rate it or hate it? Do you have a favourite? Are you interested in giving these a go? Get chatting!

Aww... Shake, shake, shake. I also want to try the Lancome Juicey Shakers one day... Looking for one that gives nice moist lips and lip colour without the sticky feeling.

Ooohhh I really try a lip oil now, never even heard of this stuff :-) Sounds divine!

Haven't tried one as yet, but they do look interesting :)

I bought a juicy shaker and absolutely love it! It adds such a nice tint for more 'natural' makeup days and feels so nice on. Also smells deliiiiiiissshh. I definitely want more but they are so expensive! Surely it won't be too long before drug store brands bring them out.

Ooh these are so pretty. The ysl one looks absolutely stunning!

I'm not a fan of "tint" products but the applicator for the Lancome Juicy Shakers are interesting. I might just have to pay Farmers a visit to swatch some colours.

haven't tried any of them but that juicy shaker is super cute

Ooh they all look so lovely, hadn't honestly thought about trying them... until now Thanks lol

hmmm I would worry it could be too liquid like and run down my mouth off my lips? I would only want to use a good oil blend too

I love Lancome juicy shakers! I have the shade freedom of peach. I would buy most of the range if I could afford to. They smell divine and the mini cocktail bottle is super cute.

I'm still a little undecided about them. I like them better than lip glosses but I think I still prefer lipstick.

this sounds worth a look as I have always hated the way glossy lipstick leaves marks on china and glasses -YUCK -This soulds as though it would be good for your lips as well as provide an awesome lip colour.

Well duh! I should have read the article better. My bad

Are they as sticky as lip gloss? I am intrigued by the Juicy Shakers. Cherry Symphony sounds gorgeous. I will have to investigate now lol.

I have been watching these from the sidelines at the moment, in particular I am keen to try the Lancome Juicy Shakers after falling in love with their highly underrated Lip Lover range. However the price tags on these are pretty up there, so might put it on the Christmas wish list instead.
