Are All Oils Created The Same?

How did we ever live without applying oils to our face? How did we not know about the goodness an oil could infuse into our skin? These days I can't imagine going a day without applying an oil of some sort. And it seems to me that the range of oils available continues to grow. For a long time rosehip oil, with its ability to hydrate, reduce the look of fine lines and skin damage, was considered gold for the skin. And still is, for good reason. But rosehip is now, perhaps more than ever, being blended with oils we'd not previously heard a lot about - and it left us wanting to know more!

When I think about argan oil I immediate think to the bottles of the stuff I've put through my hair. It's brilliant for reducing frizz and adding shine, but it's also a brilliant oil to add into one's facial regime as it's full of Vitamin E and fatty acids, which makes it super hydrating, while fighting off the free radicals that lead to the ageing on one's skin.

I do enjoy a good grape - in fruit form, liquid form, and now in oil form. Grapeseed oil is rich in vitamins C, D and E, and linoleic acid. Being antioxidant rich it does, as you'd expect, fight free radicals. It also offers protection from UV rays, and promotes collagen production and the firming of skin.

As good for your skin as they are to eat, the oil from the pomegranate seed is a wonderful addition to a skincare regime. High in antioxidants it helps to fight damage from free radicals, while hydrating skin and promoting collagen production. It also contains both elligic acid, which helps prevent UV damage, as well as punicic acid, which also helps prevent UV damage while fighting free radicals and reducing inflammation.

Who knew the seeds of kiwifruit could be such a wondrous thing? Until now I always thought of them as a mere annoyance that needed to be dealt to with a firm hand and much floss after having a kiwifruit munching session. Kiwifruit seed oil contains a hefty dose of vitamins C and E as well as Omega 3, and it works to keep the skin moisturised while fighting off free radicals and promoting the production of collagen. Brilliant stuff. I'll never scowl at the seeds again.

So many good oils. So little time. No wonder we were instantly smitten with Evolu's New Radiance Rosehip & Friends. It takes all those fabulous oils and delivers a raft of goodness to the skin. Working to even out skin tone, increase radiance, reduce the appearance of scars and lines, all the while hydrating and delivering the skin a vitamin boost.

Now that right there is the good oil.

So do tell, what are your favourite oils for your skin? Have you tried any of the less known ones? Are you keen to include oil in your skincare regime? If you already are, what's been your experience? Chat away...

I love love love oils - all kinds. I use Elizabeth Arden oil every morning at the moment, and am using plain coconut oil at night for a month to see what it does to my skin and for my eyes.

Oooooh I really love the idea of all of those in one oil - this is so going on my wishlist to try next.

I had a similar experience with the A'Kin rosehip oil, but won one of these blends and it's much better for my skin.

I'm not a fan of the Essay one, though I love Evolu and Trilogy. The Essay one seemed kinda sticky.

Sorry, autocorrect... Essano, not Essay!!
