2015 Fragrance Trends

Fragrances.  We think of the 'classics' as luxuries, we save them for special occasions, we feel guilty spending so much on them.  We think of anything 'not a classic' as not quite as good, despite what our nose tells us, and we probably use ones we don't absolutely love more often because they didn't break the bank.

We probably don't think of fragrances as being 'on trend' or 'in style' - we wear what smells good to us right?  Wrong!

Twice a year Seven Scents complete global research to inform suppliers what notes and scent combinations are going to be the most popular.  And they seem to be pretty on the money, as the fragrance industry has followed their predictions for the last 25 years!

So what insights into 2015 do Seven Scents have? 

Summer:

• Rhubarb—bringing a fresh, green, lightly tart and red berry note, rhubarb blends with fruity and floral aromas to create a subtle sharpness
• Mint—adding a cool, green note and a hint of spice, the addition of mint gives scents a natural lift
• Tea—offering a variety of delicate aromas, a renewed focus on tea delivers a fresh and aromatic character

Autumn/Winter:

• Oud: returning after a short absence, this note delivers a rich, musty, woody-nutty scent to create a sultry Middle Eastern backdrop to compositions.
• Rose: making an appearance for the fourth consecutive A/W season, rose is distinguished by its eternal femininity and used to add powdery, fruity or woody notes to a scent.
• Leather: evident in both masculine and feminine fragrances, a leather note brings smoothness, warmth and even an animalistic direction.

Seven Scent also create monikers for the different fragrance combinations they predict will be huge throughout the year, so during 2015 look out for;

• Artisan Botanical: Inspired by nature, sophisticated vintage floral aromas combine with fresh, green notes to create a lush, elegant and carefree character.
• Tribal Anthropology: Bold and vibrant, this heady fragrance blends woody, spicy and earthy notes to evoke travel to distant places.
• Sculptural Oceanography: Fresh sea breezes mix with salty waves to create a fluid scent with nuances of white tea and cool ozone, resting on submerged driftwood, musk and sea moss.
• Neo Architecture: A daring construction with precise design at its heart, this fragrance is built around a strong amber base and wrapped in a beautiful combination of sensual musks and dry spices.

So we guess the only thing left to do is to take this information with us and head to the nearest perfume counter!  We might just fall in love with our new signature scent!
